Sticking Your Head Out Above the Crowd

What does this mean and why?  Here’s my take….

In 2007 I came across a real estate broker out of Dacula, GA by the name of Matt Fagioli.  Matt, along with other pioneers that I met online or in person were talking about things like web 2.0, business blogging, social networking and SEO. These topics were all new to me as I was used to the real estate market of old, back in the mid 1980’s when I first started as a young real estate whippersnapper.

Matt along with other pioneers such as Lane Bailey, Susie Blackmon,  Mary McKnight and Midori Miller were talking and writing about internet marketing on websites like ActiveRain which were all new to me. I listened intently to them talk and write (Blog) about these and other topics. It was all good information, but the thing that shocked me the most was that all of these folks were willing to share their thoughts, ideas and experience with anyone who would listen.

Now I’m a semi-competitive guy and didn’t understand this mentality, why tell the competition what you’re doing and exactly how to do it.  Being a cards close to the vest kind of guy, I asked this question of Matt Fagioli and others. Their overall response was that by freely sharing your expertise and experience with others this community of like minded people all benefited as a whole but only a small percentage would ever put the advice into action. I liken this to the fact that everyone knows that they should eat healthy and exercise, but how many actually use these ideas on a regular basis. Ideas can be shared with a large group and they will all nod in agreement, but it is only the inspired individual that will apply these ideas and put them into practice.

We at Florida’s Beautiful Homes are in the service business and that means educating real estate agents and consumers alike. Sharing is what business Blogging is all about, the Blog that educates an audience is more likely to incubate future business through the appreciation of the knowledge and credibility that you offer than to provide an enlightened path for readers to move forward without you.  In plain English, many readers will appreciate our expertise and efforts to educate them and will ask us to represent them in a real estate transaction.

As I have been taught, your online Blog is a buffet of tasty treats and whether everyone decides to fully sample each one, your reputation for having such a wide array of snacks will soon spread – both by word of mouth and via search engines who love Blogs that offer more than a boring bowl of plain oatmeal.

Our philosophy at Florida’s Beautiful Homes™ has evolved and at the heart of it is the fact that our competition may very well steal our recipes – but a stolen recipe is never quite as tasty as the original due to the experience, savvy, care and thought put into it by the original creator – the thief of ideas or copy-cat will never be able to exactly duplicate our success… especially considering that a true success has the discipline and dedication to create his or her own recipes. Our recipe is constantly being refined as we try to perfect it.

If you would like to learn more about our recipe and possibly help us perfect it, please give us a call or send us an e-mail.
